What is BICYCODE® marking?

BICYCODE® is THE ONLY system recognized by the French government for combating bicycle theft and the handling of stolen goods. It is supported by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of the Interior.

Our company is approved as an official operator, so we engrave our tricycles ourselves before shipping them to their owners.

The aim of this system is to allow – in the event of theft – the return of a stolen tricycle to its owner by the police / gendarmerie services, and thus to combat the receiving and illegal resale.

We use a tamper-evident adhesive provided by Bicycode, allowing us to mark our tricycles efficiently and quickly, in accordance with the regulations. This unique number enhances traceability, in addition to the other serial numbers we use (frame, motor, battery).

Each Damius tricycle has its own digital tracking sheet, a bit like a digital birth certificate. This sheet includes the BICYCODE serial number and other serial numbers, the color, the type of tricycle, the installed options and accessories, the name of the technician who performed the assembly, the date of the first real-world test, the shipping date, and so on. We keep all these details on this internal sheet so we can trace the tricycle’s origin if needed.

We register the tricycle in the national file by indicating the Bicycode number, the tricycle model, the colour, the serial numbers of the frame, the motor and the battery, but also the contact details of the customer owner (name, surname, email and telephone).

For this step, an email is sent to the owner to confirm their registration and contact information, including their home address. Registration is essential if you wish to be contacted in case of theft. Therefore, we advise you to register as soon as you receive this email. This file is accessible ONLY to law enforcement, who will then be able to contact you if necessary. In the future, you will be able to modify your contact information (change of address, email, or phone number), report that your tricycle has been stolen (this will facilitate the work of the police), or indicate that you have transferred ownership of your tricycle to a new owner (who can then provide their contact information), etc.
